MOCRA Nationals 2015

The team took Wardance down to Plymouth for the Nationals. Luke was sailing with Nigel on the F-22 so Andy Rushworth ably stood in for him.

Racing was tight for 2nd place which we were pleased to win, but couldn't get near the mighty Hissy Fit for first place

RTI 2015

We might look a bit lost in this still from the TV, but we did get a decent start to this year's round the Island race.
A beautiful day for it and we were happy untill StCats when the big spinny halyard clutch let go and we ended up with it in the drink about a 100m to windward of the rocks! Well done to Claire,Andy and Ad for getting it back on board.

RTI 2014

It was a slow Round The Island Race. The team were happy with our tactics though and Wardance was 12th fastest out of 1500 boats and fastest non-Grand Prix multihull.
We caught up the monohull pro-teams who started before us and sit there on the rail in full wet weather gear [because they have nowhere to put it], they look a little hacked off with us as we move the pillows across the deck, balance the cups of tea and fold the corners of our books to tack or gybe! One VMG crew was even caught asleep on the front nets at one point!

2014 Mocra Nationals

The Team took the F-32 to the MOCRA Nationals during Poole Regatta. It was a great event with all sorts of winds but a bit too much rain.
It must have been a bit too early in the season for us as we spent the first 4 races mucking about with the winter modifications
But in the last 4 races, we let Wardance do her stuff and finished with 1st-2nd-2nd-1st
When an F-boat is worked up to speed, she suddenly takes off and really lets you know that you are doing it right - very satisfying!

Plan Sales to stop!

Ian Farrier has decided that he can't concentrate on getting F-22 production underway and keep his buy-to-build plans at the cutting edge at the same time.

So.. plan sales will stop on September 24th 2012. If you buy plans before then, you will still get Ian's exemplary support for 5 years and if you decide to buy a production F-22 [or F-32 later] your un-used plans can be redeemed in full as part-payment. Launch update

Weather looks better for the 23rd [Saturday] so will try and launch late am.
We will be a Mayor's Mead slipway if anyone wants a laugh
Hitched it all up tonight ready for an early morning tow down to the river

Launch postponed

The forecast is for force 7 tomorrow and it would be nice to have another day to get things spick and span.
We will try for late morning on Saturday, but watch this space.
We might need to raise the boom if we want to keep Gary's nice bimini that he lent us

Jules Verne Trophy

We thought it a good idea to try out our new wet-weather gear so took a flying visit to see Banque populaire come home from their round-the-world record run.
The French certainly get behind their sailors and put on a good show.

Training with Oman Sail

Adam was part of a team of UK cat sailors that were invited out to Oman to train with the Omansail Multihull squad

Cowes week

Thanks to Grant for letting Paul out of the boatshed to sail on Freebird for the weekend of Cowes week.
Ben made the change from his Raider cat to do his first race on a Trimaran and was surprised how fast they tack in light airs - so much so that went over the back beam and into the drink on the first one!
Once we stopped laughing, we got on with the race and managed to beat both Seacarts to the first windward mark and only had one just in front at the second.
2 Races - 2 wins. Very nice

SL 16

Adam and Nikki are getting to grips with the SL16 again after a break of 2 years

The Hobie 16 has gone to a new youth team in Denmark.

Datchet SC open

Adam and Nikki have won the first Spitfire open of the year at Datchet Water.
Super sailing in the rain on Saturday, a bit fickle on the Sunday. All the fleet are getting on well together and making these weekends a bit of fun too.

F-22 at the Nationals

Thanks to Nigel for bringing his baby down to Plymouth. It took us 3 days to get the F-32 down there - he did it in 3 hours on raceday morning and then launched by himself and was alongside as we were washing up the breakfast things!
Luke and Nigel sailed 2-handed for the series and found things very manageable but still wished for a spinnaker at times.

New Boat Launch

The VMG 7 'Pssyche' was launched at the beginning of August. After an 18 month build time, it's still not finished but we wanted to get it afloat for trials this summer. We could have called it Marmite - people either love it or hate it!

The first UK F-22 should grace the waters of the Solent later this Summer.
It is in the final stages of assembly in NZ and be put in its shipping container soon

SAILING!

Well, there it is, unbelievable!
My whole life just changed, I'm a sailor again. The working week goes much quicker when this is at the end of it

Launch day approaching

I finally got my jubilee holiday flag pole up!
Launch day is set at 22nd June, that will give us just the week to get sorted out before the Round the Island [Of Wight] race on the 30th

F-22 in the UK

EXCITING NEWS
Team VMG have been appointed as UK agents for the F-22 trimaran.
The main mission at the moment is to channel information out to all those sailors that are enquiring and then to help Farrier Marine clear the backlog of orders once production starts.

TEXEL

Is it ever calm in Texel?
The fleet took a right battering in the Dutch open, but the boys did well to come out of it 11th.

They started the big race well, but pulled out after a damaging capsize

VMG F18 Team!

Despite sailing on cats since their pre-teens, their outing at the Hobie 16 nationals was the first time that Luke and Adam have sailed together in competition.
They must have felt some potential in their teamwork because they took the plunge - and a Wildcat has arrived in the garden!

The team defended our Hobie 16 national title - good work Adam and Luke

It was a breezy weekend with some really close racing.

The VMG crew needed to win the last race to be sure to take the title, they crossed the line first - to silence........ They were OCS!
They had to sit and watch the finishers behind them to see how things panned out. But by staying in the top 3 for all the races, they had done enough.

ISAF Youth Worlds

Adam and Nikki lost the tie break for the bronze medal and finished 4th!
The bigger the event, the more that admin seems to take over from decent sailing. This event was really well run and the sailors had a great time. The sailing was 'Not the best' to put it mildly, going on late in the day to find any sort of breeze with courses very close inshore.
Should there be raw sewage bobbing around in the launch area of ANY sailing event?
Well done to the team - what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!

Youth National Champions!

Well done to Adam and Nikki Boniface for blitzing the fleet at the Volvo RYA Youth nationals.
They have also been selected for the GBR Team for the ISAF youth world championships this summer in Turkey.
